The Build Out

Starting with an Old restoration that needed some TLC.

The following pages show the Olds evolving from a stock 1956 Holiday Coupe, Rocket 88.

New wheels don't always a car make.
I started out with the intention of just makeing the car safe to drive.  Problem was,  there was much to do to make this possible.  Finally,  a complete tear down was commissioned and a rebuild up from the frame was undertaken.

A Mustang ll coil over front end was selected and fitted to the Olds
The old front suspension was torched out and the new front end welded in it's place. The front part of the frame was then welded to the Mustang front.

Not much left except the frame.
The front end clip was welded in place and the front part of the frame attached. The motor mounts were constructed and the engine and transmission were fitted to the frame. The Frame was then stripped and cleaned and powder coated.

Good thing we did a "frame off".
As it turns out,  we found the frame braces broken in two places and two of the body mounts on the passenger side were also broken.  Accident anybody?

Looks a bit better after the powder coating.
While all this was going on,  the body was getting the once over
